SG Li Baodong meets with Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekera

H.E. Mr. Li Baodong, Secretary General of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) met with Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekera, Chairman of Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Security of Parliament of Sri Lanka.

Secretary Li Baodong commended Sri Lanka’s contribution as one of the BFA initial countries and country that jointly building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. He said that the BFA would like to engage with the Parliament and multi-stakeholders of Sri Lanka for connectivity and development of the region and sustainable recovery of world economy.

Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekera stated that Sri Lanka was along the ancient Silk Road and would like to be part of the Belt and Road Initiative. Sri Lanka would like to step up economic, trade, industry as well as cultural exchanges and cooperation, through the BFA, with China and other regional countries.
