2018华为英国人工智能学生挑战赛现已启动！

Are you enthusiastic about Artificial Intelligence? Ever wanted to de-noise images?

Good news! We are delighted to inform you that 2018 Huawei AI Student Challenge is now open to all the undergraduate, post-graduate, and research (PhD) student participants in UK universities! The AI Student Challenge is a programming competition organized by Huawei annually. We picks a Challenge in the field of Artificial Intelligence for you to solve and you can pick a team no more than three members to work together. Your task in this challenge is to develop a de-noising method that reduces image noise, whilst preserving image detail. Are you up for the challenge?

Challenge Topic

Noise is a fundamental problem in digital photography, as it is inherit to the imaging process,and it degrades image quality. State-of-the-art digital cameras, including smartphones, include a denoising algorithm that removes noise to restore a high quality image. Your task in this challenge is to develop a denoising method that reduces image noise, whilst preserving image detail.

Timeline:

Challenge commence date: 1 Nov 2018

Submission deadline: 30 Nov 2018 midday

Students could register through the website below at any time before the end of the competition. Once you or your team has registered, a confirmation email will be sent within 3 working days by the organiser, which confirms your eligibility and indicates further instructions for the competition evaluation system. If you haven't received confirmation email, please contact us via ukchallenge@huawei.com.

The Evaluation System will also feature a live scoreboard so that you’ll be able to see how the other teams perform. Maximum 10 entries a day is allowed in the competition. Participants may submit their best performing solution to the leader board. Only solutions submitted to the leader board will be evaluated for prizes.

Prizes:

1st place：

£7000 for one team/individual winner

2nd place：

£5000 for one team/individual winner

3rd place：

£3000 for one team/individual winner

In addition, the top 3 winner teams/individuals will have the opportunity to visit to Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen, China for one week this year!

Honourable mention prize for 4th -6 th place – Huawei smartphone for an individual participant or for each team member.

All the participants will have the chance to be invited to the Award Ceremony on 12 Dec 2018 at British Museum! Some speakers will be invited to make speeches in the field of AI. That would be great opportunity for you to get inspired and mingle with speakers, Huawei AI scientists, or other participants!
